I think they mean, that the person they’re talking about is, on the outside a happy, cheerful, bubbly person. But deep down the person is hurting.

I think you described your situation great. I feel the same way. Of course, if I got you right. I’m just full of imagination and ideas and nothing really touches me. I feel gray in my heart. Apathy is destroying me. I need something to color my heart. To make it red again.
