Anger, beatrayal, trust, all hail
The one who should make it and prevail
The winds have changed course for I have set sail
Upon the dark horizon, looking for what lies on
The end of the end of this world, look around the bend
Check every nook and cranny, there have been many
Who have journeyed this way, looking for the place where day ends
And everything just makes perfect sense
Many have stumbled upon my path, and have all failed
I am picking up the pieces of breadcrumbs on this broken trail
My hands are sweaty and I am shaking, looking in the mirror pale
Who is staring back at me? I never knew that this tale
Could change me so much, I take up this hammer and nail
Start to build my own path, plank by plank, my hopes have sank
Romantic love has left me empty like a bottle of Jack that’s drank
Ash tray packed to the rim with ash and cigarettes
As I drown my sorrows out I realise that nothing can make me forget
I cannot forget as I cling to dear life on this torment
The present has froze, and I do not live in the moment
I turn back and look upon what once was there, memories I can’t bear
memories so powerful that they shake me, they scare
They strip me of everything that makes me, me, and leave me bare
Standing butt naked around a crowd of people, and they all stare
Millions of eyes pierce my back and neck, feeling the heat of their gaze
The world around me is burning, everything feels hot and ablaze
Nothing changes as everything stays, I’ve lost the will to change my ways
This is one game I am not eager to play, because life does not lose
So, how do I choose which path to take? Which one to burn and forsake?
Thoughts circiling my head that I do not wish to contemplate
I may be strong but I cannot sit here and pretend
That the past does not effect me, and that I am not frightened
I feel smarter and I know I am enlightened as I sail this dark horizon
This is the one thing I have set my eyes on
Life is too short, snatch what you can and hold on ’cause we may die soon
Watch what you say, and watch who you say it to, some are not worth to lie to
So, forget holding hands, forget your appearance, in the dark nothing is to be seen
In the dark I know I can be me, nobody needs to worry about being fat
Nobody needs to worry about their life being on track, it’s a fact
The dark saves us from ourselves, we accept ourselves the best
As for the rest, the dwellers that reside in the light
Constantly judge, debate what’s right, and fight to look good
But in the dark… this world of ours, everything is as it should.
